Have Your Say

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, how you contact us will be different at the moment. This is to limit face-to-face contact whenever possible and help stop the spread of coronavirus.

Your GP practice is open and if you need to see your GP, please ring us on 01207 583400 or visit our website – our opening ours are 08:30am- 5:30pm Monday- Friday. Please note our telephone line is shut between 12pm - 12:30pm daily.

Please do not come to the surgery unless you have an appointment.

If you are waiting for an annual review, please be assured we will be in touch.

Appointments are being delivered face-to-face, online and over the telephone. If you are asked to come into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment, please remember to wear a face covering. Measures are in place to keep you safe from infection during your visit to the surgery.

face covering guidance

Our highest priority at Consett Medical Centre is our patients health and well-being. To protect other patients and our staff, so we are able to continue working during the coronavirus pandemic, we have been advised to make changes to our appointments system:

Anyone with a fever, new continuous cough (even if mild) or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste in the past 7 days, OR a household contact with new continuous cough or fever in the past 14 days must NOT attend the surgery unless advised otherwise by the practice.
If you have symptoms and they are mild then stay home and follow NHS online guidance.

Anyone with cough or fever who is unwell please contact 111 online/111 by phone/999.
We are trying to provide as much care as possible remotely through e-consultations, telephone, video, and text messaging.
All patients who need to be seen in the surgery will be screened by telephone or text beforehand or as you enter the building
Please avoid attending the surgery in person unless you have been asked to attend.
Prescriptions and fit notes can be requested online.

This a difficult and worrying time for us all and we are constantly updating our procedures in line with national recommendations. We appreciate your patience at this difficult time.

Many Thanks,
Dr Gorman & all the staff at Consett Medical Centre

Exemption cards or badges

Some people may feel more comfortable showing something that says they do not have to wear a face covering. This could be in the form of an exemption card, badge or even a home-made sign.

This is a personal choice, and is not necessary in law.

If you would like to use an exemption card you can use the PDF attachments on this page https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own

More information can be found on the governments website- here
