Know Your Numbers!
It is Know Your Numbers! week and we’d like to encourage all our patients to check their blood pressure (BP). High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks and strokes, but the good news is there are lots of ways of lowering BP which lowers these risks.
You can check your BP for free at local pharmacies, by booking an appointment at the surgery, or ideally by doing home blood pressure readings. Home readings are most accurate – they reflect what your BP is like in your home setting. BP monitors are quite cheap (around £15-20) and last years. You can even share a machine with family and friends.
Not only are we encouraging patients to check your BP, but also to know what the numbers mean. The Blood Pressure UK website has some useful guides.
Once you’ve checked your blood pressure please let us know your results – either doing this online or drop in some readings in our postbox (don’t forget to include your name and date of birth).
